Blipfoto is a social network based around the shared purpose of taking and publishing one photo a day. An incredibly active and vibrant community has grown around this simple, addictive concept.

Blipfoto.com currently receives over 12 million monthly page views from an audience of 140,000 individuals in more than 150 countries, and grows by 15% month on month.

Since winning a BAFTA Scotland Award in 2009, Blipfoto has attracted the attention and support of Channel Four Television, The Guardian, National Public Radio (USA), the BBC, The Times, The Sunday Times, The National Theatre for Scotland, Creative Scotland, Edinburgh Festivals and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

The company closed its first round of investment in December 2010, creating the new full-time position of Web Developer as Blipfoto begins to grow more rapidly.

The successful candidate will be joining a team developing site features, creating microsites for new projects and partners, and upgrading the existing codebase to handle future expansion.

Working on both front-end code and a server-side LAMP environment, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge and experience of:

• Modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript

• Browser compatibility issues and solutions

• PHP and MySQL

Familiarity with best practices, object-oriented programming, version control, the iOS platform or mobile development will be an advantage, however the ideal candidate will have an aptitude for quickly acquiring new skills and a keenness for creating high-quality software.

This position presents a unique and exciting opportunity for a graduate or junior developer to take an important role in a growing brand with global ambition.
