What is Scotland Loves Animation?

Scotland Loves Animation. Scotland loves enchanting Japanese fantasies from Studio Ghibli; we love vivid classics like The Moomins, born in Finland/Sweden; we love international collaborations like the Franco-Japanese Ulysses 31 and Spanish/Japanese children’s animation Around The World With Willy Fog; and most of all Scotland loves the potential inspired in our own animators, scriptwriters, and digital artists.

Scotland Loves Animation is here to promote animation worldwide with a compelling programme of events this October. Based in three of Scotland’s great cultural hubs (Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dundee) Scotland Loves Animation offers premiere screenings, exhibitions, workshops and international guests to entertain all ages and tastes.

The focus of 2010 is on Japan. We have already celebrated Scotland’s love of Japanese animation with a highly successful double-screening of Evangelion 1.0 and the UK premiere of Evangelion 2.0, as well as the iconic Akira as part of the Glasgow Film Festival. Scotland Loves Animation presents more popular classics alongside more underground works.

As well as sharing past and current successes, Scotland Loves Animation offers a platform for future successes of recent graduates. The Class of 2010 project gives you the exciting opportunity to showcase your own works to the public and to a selection of industry professionals. Scotland Loves Animation will also run an educational programme geared towards inspiring, improving, and celebrating our graduates’ works.

Above is one of the Scotland Loves Animation stings done by a student over at Edinburgh College of Art and is one of the idents we'll be playing before the main feature begins.
