Which is more important? Apps or iPhone?

"Apps rule in the short term as they are what drive users to the iPhone (or any platform) but long-term if the apps stagnate while the platform doesn't change then they go the way of that dusty laptop in the attic - freecycle. So, I…"

Tell us what you're passionate about....
My day job is with the Digital Circle, an industry group for Northern Ireland Digital Content companies - Digital Circle. We're putting into practise the Northern Ireland Digital Content Strategy. I'm really interested in hearing from people outside of Belfast - especially those who might feel disenfranchised by the road to Belfast - and further afield to potential networks that could be tapped in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

So, if you've got a tenuous connection to "digital media" in Northern Ireland, then I'm probably going to add you as a friend. Or if you're an iPhone or Mac person.

Infurious Ltd is an NI company making comics and games for iPhone. (and maybe Android if it takes off). I'm also the MD for Mac-Sys Ltd. And I run a couple of other things and web sites and whatnot.

Also working on CoWorking Belfast so people in the Digital Content sector have somewhere to meet and work.
What brings you to 38minutes?
Anything hyperlocal, networks and collaboration, co-working, layered reality gaming, adding 'depth' to traditional media using software and location.

Bits and pieces...

I'm also on FaceBook and LinkedIn depending on what takes your fancy.

Hey Matt... It would be good to "chew the fat" with you about Digital Circle. I head up Wireless Innovation Scotland National Initiative supporting all developers, SMEs and Start Ups developing applications, platforms etc across the Mobile, Wireless and Digital Media Sector. Spend most of my time getting funding or creating partnerships for the SMEs. Its good to catch up on the phone

Disruptive!

Fred Wilson visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss disruption. This event took place on May 13, 2009, as part of the Marketing Talks@Google series.

As 'media' has become disruptive - are there other industries that can be end-to-end digital: created, distributed and consumed - without every becoming atoms.

Fred suggests:

Consumer Finance - money is already just bits. Why do we still use cash?

Education -… Continue

Looking East Across the Irish Sea....

One of the opportunities for 38minutes and the whole 'ning-based' network is the shortening of these distances - isn't that what the internet is all about (apparently it's not just about porn and advertising).

When I look at a map, I like to draw a line circle from where I am to around 75 miles...

and I find myself wondering what is across the Irish Sea, what new… Continue
