About me

Rachael is a freelance project manager, producer and consultant, and is currently managing the Support your local Cinema project for moviepilot GmbH.  She is also a documentary filmmaker.  Her next project is a feature film about a theatrical collaboration between artists in Minneapolis, USA and artists in Congo.

Until December 2008, Rachael Castell was English National Opera’s Interactive Producer working to develop a long term interactive audience development strategy for the company, involving social networking, blogging and the creation of high quality video content with a view to providing dynamic, engaging, uniquely creative access to ENO productions, company members and teams.

Prior to her appointment at ENO, Rachael worked as the Head of New Media for Adventure Pictures (Sally Potter’s production company), and previous to that spent four years as Producer of the East End Film Festival. She has produced over 100 short films on a range of formats from 35mm to HDv, is a freelance sub-editor and film journalist with print and radio experience, and holds an MA in the History of Film and Visual Media.

Under the banner of Rouge and Tripoli Rachael has directed video work for Opera Europa, Glyndebourne Opera, English National Opera, Masterclass Haymarket, the UK government’s Music and Dance Scheme, and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Hi Rachael

Welcome to 38minutes – I hope you find the site useful. Please do look around and get to know the network. A few things you might wish to check out:

Groups: There are 128 groups on here, ranging from specific companies to social events. The most popular are Wanted (see below), Channel 4, Edinburgh Coffee Morning and iPhone apps. There are also two new groups added recently: Flying Solo, for freelancers, and Swap Shop. Join as many as you like or feel free to create your own.

Wanted: Also to be found under the ‘Jobs’ tab on the navigation bar, Wanted brings together hundreds of vacancies and opportunities from across modern media. If you join the group you’ll get regular emails highlighting the latest jobs – and of course you can add your own too.

Directory: A comprehensive list of companies on 38minutes, organised by specialism. Leave a comment on the wall if you would like to be listed.

There are also regularly updated events and plenty of lively blogs. Please feel free to write as often as you like – we’re always pleased to get new voices on here.

If you have any questions/ideas, do drop me a line.

Best

Nicola
