...just wanted to mention the fantastic music and dance we had at this event.
Punjabi No. 1; an impressive troupe of young dancers started things off with a riot of colour and infectious smiles. Punjabi No. 1 obviously love what they do, and are worth checking out if you can. I'd recommend them to anyone feeling jaded and needing a pick me up.…

This took place yesterday (29th Sep) in The Hub, Pacific Quay. What a great day - an eclectic mix of panel debate (Stuart Cosgrove chaired this, and gave an inspiring and fascinating opening speech on the little known but influencial role Scotland has played in music of black origin - you'd be amazed!) live music and gear demo's. And personally - I got to meet Kanya King, the amazing woman behind the MOBO awards. She very kindly left the SECC and the MOBO setup and gave us lots of her… Continue
This week sees Channel 4's new media Commissioners hit the road, starting in Belfast today. Louise Brown from Cross-Platform, Matt Locke from Education and Tom Loosemore from 4iP will outline their areas of interest for 2010 and beyond, and take questions from local producers, indies, agencies and coders.
Last week, facebook admitted to having a "bad hair day", after millions of users were locked out of their accounts. facebook didn't identify the source of the problem, and gave no skimmy as to what was going on.
Today, facebook is having another mullet chops, which this time, could be down to thick… Continue
(First Published at Ace Gamez) The developers of racing titles have a conundrum on their hands when trying to create an experience that is both authentic to appease gear heads, while remaining accessible enough for those simply looking for a fun experience they can dip in and out of at leisure. Some fall dangerously close to being bogged down by the same morass that genre counterparts Forza… Continue

It's a disappointing truth that many of the ideas we get at 4iP have been done before. A two minute noodle around your favourite search engine would reveal your potential competitors and either prevent you spending an afternoon on a pitch that'll go nowhere, or thrust you into a niche that's a sure winner (well, maybe).
I'm convinced, too, that Google's algorithms regularly seek out development producers and coders as they look for similar products to… Continue
If you're involved in Open Source, interested in Open Source or use Open Source, then check out the Scottish Open Source Awards being held in Edinburgh in November.
Better still .. grab yourself a tickets ... they're free, pizza, wine, beer, funky venue, great networking, good speakers, great technologists ... if you're going to go to one networking event this year, make it this one.
When Channel 4 launched 4iP, its Innovation for the Public Fund, the last word brought along connotations that we were largely 'spending' money à la grant, when in fact most of our work is investing in sustainable digital media. It's a nuance explained well in a guest post on the 4iP blog by Jason Hall, Screen West Midlands' Digital Media Fund manager: Even…Continue
People can perceive subliminal messages, particularly if the message is negative, according to a UK study. In three experiments at University College London, participants were briefly shown masked words and asked to classify them as emotional or neutral.

There are still reasons why businesses are reticent to get involved in using social media, it was written in Social Media Today but essentially they are:
1. Employees will waste time with it - some companies have banned access, erm most of your employees have smart phones (you can Twitter by text and access Facebook...)
2. Haters will damage the brand -… Continue

(First Published at Ace Gamez) It’s hard to play WET and refrain from drawing comparisons to John Woo’s Stranglehold when the basic premise is essentially carbon-copied from Midway’s flawed but firmly enjoyable wire-fu blaster. The similarities between the two titles end here, as this latest entry to the stunt shooter pack fails to deliver the explosive, stunt-filled bullet orgy we were promised… Continue

According to everyone's best pal, Wikipedia, "Assistive technology (AT) is a generic term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities and includes the process used in selecting, locating, and using them.
AT promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing enhancements to or changed methods of interacting with the technology… Continue
