The Scheme - Raging Debate on BBC Scotland Documentary Series

I vented my views on this despicable programme on facebook last night and received a mixed reaction. Some people simply like car crash TV where people, usually lowly educated, are set up for ridicule.

This programme excels. In the sucking department.

It”s yicky.

And(seemingly) now it has gone.

I watched Newsnight tonight, aghast, as Stuart [sic] Cosgrove defended this vile pish.

Pat Kane, on the other hand, smelt (smelled?) the coffee.

Kane described the project as poverty porn. I agree.

Cosgrove floundered in his defence.

Why?

Because he works for C4 and they do that sort of thing.

The BBC don’t (and shouldn’t have to).

Death to the horrible, horrid, nasty scheme.

I heard that line "Poverty Porn". Can someone explain what it actually means? I think Scheme is sad and terrifying and oddly humorless , even with the jaunty music for the sequences with the dog. But it is engaging and reminds me of "the family" although far less optimistic!

I know you had to play the defender Stuart (not sic). I think you had a poor deal because it was a bad idea. Period. But I wouldn't have liked your gig. Pat won though. Cos he had the higher ground.

I try not to trade in lame cliches like 'poverty porn' - always try to think harder.
Often admit some things on Channel 4 are not to my taste.
Now go to bed Mark your trying to pick a fight, which makes you come over like an irredeemable schemie ned...

Ps No need for the (sic) after my name, that is my name.
